Pastor Chet has been serving as the pastor of Good Shepherd UMC since July 2021 and has a heart for connecting and serving with others. For the past five years, his ministry has been in digital communications at Bread for the World, a Christian non-profit advocating to end hunger, and at Eleison Group, a faith-based strategic communications and political consulting firm. He holds a B.A. in political science and philosophy from Loyola University Chicago, a M.T.S. in social ethics from Boston College, School of Theology and Ministry, and a M.Div. with a specialization in public theology from Wesley Theological Seminary. In recent years, he has served as a lay member of the Baltimore-Washington Conference’s delegation to the Northeastern Jurisdiction Jurisdictional Conference and General Conference.
He is married to Darian Harnish, a certified public accountant, who is a member of the Mennonite Church USA. They are dog dads to a mini Bernedoodle named Ollie. Pastor Chet loves the outdoors, whether it is camping with friends, hiking, or working outside in the garden and is always seeking opportunities to encounter God by connecting contemplatively with creation.
A native of Baltimore, MD and baptized at Aldersgate UMC, where she was an active member and served in many ministries until she became a member of Good Shepherd UMC, Linda has a heart for cultivating an active and engaged laity. As Lay Leader, she preaches, leads bible studies, provides pastoral care, and works closely with the pastor to establish vital small group ministries in order to deepen a sense of congregational connection and outreach in the community. A dedicated follower of Jesus Christ, Linda loves to teach laity about the Wesleyan means of grace. Linda is now in the process of becoming re-certified by the Baltimore-Washington Conference as a lay servant. She is also a proud and loyal Orioles and Ravens fan.
As the Director of Family Ministries, Melissa collaborates with the pastor, members of the congregation, families of both the church and community, schools, and other community-based organizations and non-profits in order to offer and grow outreach to families of every type. In addition to leading the After School program, Melissa leads the Sunday School and Summer Camp programs. She has many years of experience serving youth and families and has a heart for pastoral leadership and is currently in the process of becoming a Licensed Local Pastor in the Baltimore-Washington Conference. Married to Pastor Randy Keith, who is the pastor of Essex UMC, she is the mother of five daughters: Lyndsy, Ashley, Evelynn, Olivia, and Avery and has one granddaughter, Amora. Melissa graduated from Mount Aloysius College with a degree in nursing and has worked as both a Registered Nurse in numerous psychiatric units and with a midwife in Lancaster County, PA.
A native of Baltimore, MD and raised in John Wesley UMC, Min. McBride serves as the Program Assistant for Children and Youth. In this role, he assists the Director of Family Ministries with the daily aspects of the programming and outreach. A graduate of Northwestern Senior High School in 2013, Min. McBride is currently studying criminal justice and psychology at Coppin State University. In addition to his role at Good Shepherd UMC, Min. McBride is the youth and young adult pastor and assistant to Rev. Rodney Hudson of the Resurrection-West Cooperative Parish and co-chair of the Baltimore-Washington Conference’s Anti-Gun Violence Committee. Min. McBride has a passion for helping young people reach their fullest potential.
