OUR LEADERSHIP

Rev. Chet Jechura (he/him), Pastor

Pastor Chet is an ordained elder in the Baltimore-Washington Conference of The United Methodist Church and has served under appointment as the pastor of Good Shepherd UMC since 2021.  His passions in ministry are to encourage all God’s people to recognize and celebrate their innate belovedness, to share the good news of God’s liberating love and unconditional mercy for every person, and to create spaces for belonging that draw out the best in others, whatever they believe or doubt.

Prior to serving as a pastor, his ministries included managing digital communications at Bread for the World, a Christian non-profit advocating to end hunger, and at Eleison Group, a faith-based strategic communications and political consulting firm. Pastor Chet holds a B.A. in political science and philosophy from Loyola University Chicago, a M.T.S. in social ethics from Boston College, Clough School of Theology and Ministry, and a M.Div. with a specialization in public theology from Wesley Theological Seminary.

He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Reconciling Ministries Network, the Path 1 Strategy Team at Discipleship Ministries (a general agency of The United Methodist Church) and on the Baltimore-Washington Conference’s New Faith Expressions Board and Property with Purpose Advisory Group.

He is married to Darian Harnish, a certified public accountant and member of Mennonite Church USA. They are dog dads to a mini Bernedoodle named Ollie. Pastor Chet’s joys in life include being outdoors, gardening, walking the beach, making cards to send to loved ones, reading, and listening to music on vinyl.  Get in touch with Pastor Chet: pastor@goodshepherdhampden.org

Lambert Corcoran (he/him), Director of Music

Lambert is the Director of Music at Good Shepherd UMC, a role he found later in life after spending over two enjoyable decades in the art world.  Like many Lambert found himself prayerfully reevaluating life during the COVID-19 pandemic which led him to shift his focus to sacred music.  He is currently finishing up a Master’s in sacred music at Morgan State University.

Drawn to the community and spiritual life of the church, Lambert brings his lifelong passion for the arts along with an eclectic love of the broad range of musical strokes the church has painted over the centuries, finding pathways to foster worship that honor the musical heritage of the past while embracing the multitude of voices that give praise to God in the present.

Elizabeth Stafford (she/her), Director of Community Engagement

Elizabeth is the volunteer Director of Community Engagement at Good Shepherd UMC and has been involved with the church since September 2022. She is originally from Giles County in Southwestern Virginia and has lived in Baltimore for over 17 years. She grew up in the Pearisburg First UMC and was involved in children’s choir, was an acolyte, a member of the youth group, and the summer singers during college. Following a two year job at Washington National Cathedral while in her 20’s, Elizabeth was involved in the Episcopal Church for several years. In more recent years, and after many life experiences, she felt a strong desire to return to her roots in the United Methodist Church.

Elizabeth has a background in event planning and volunteer management, and community mental health and is a licensed clinical social worker. She loves the Good Shepherd community that she found here in Hamden and often feels like it is the piece of her life she didn’t realize she was missing. She embraces the welcoming and loving environment that Good Shepherd offers the community and loves planning community engagement events aimed at spreading that love.
